It all started in Andy Baecker's basement, in spring of 2001 (see note below)

 

Andy says....

 

"I've got this old friend in Detroit, plays bass with a band, was thinking of getting him and my brother in law here this summer, we should have a party we can jam in the back yard, can you bring your keyboard." 

 

 

 

... and with those immortal words, thus is born Pondstock. 

 

Mostly centered around good time, music, and great food, Pondstock has been steadily growing each year.   Don't know how long the tradition will last, but the group of folks who are the primary organizers are still going strong as 2008. 

 

(editors note:  Technically, and for accuracy, it could be argued that Tommy O'Rourke actually started Pondstock the previous year, when he hosted a seafood boil party, and Mike Piotrowski brought his band out to play.  It was indeed on the same pond.  However, the term "Pondstock" was not coined until the following year per above, that our story and we are sticking too it!)
